Chess is best learned at a young age. It enables kids to play together online and have fun. Chess is a cave that is filled with unexpected twists and turns leading to new unexplored territory to be conquered. Chess can take you to a different world where you are in control of a vast army, charged with the task of tactically maneuvering your pikemen and horsemen towards the enemy king avoiding traps and ambushes. On the way many soldiers may perish. Sometimes it might be necessary to sacrifice the castles or even the all-powerful queen in order to trap the enemy monarch. Eventually though, it is checkmate, and the other king is dead. If this sense of power sounded appealing, then you are not alone. Join the over 600 million people who know how to play chess. It is not just a game for nerds and geeks; it is a game that is so simple, it only takes 10 minutes to learn. A great place to start learning the rules is here. Playing chess is like riding a bike, it is very easy to learn, takes forever to completely master, and is hard to forget how to do. Chess is the most popular board game and has been ever since it was created, many centuries ago. It has progressed so far since then; it has gone from wooden sticks as pieces on a stone board to 3D animations on a computer as seen in the above movie and demonstrated in my game. Chess is still an educational game. In a recent study of mathematics scores, kids who played chess did 12.64% better than those who did other enriching activities. My chess game not only contains educational material about how to play chess, but it engages the child in a very user-friendly way with intense graphics and lets him or her advance at their own rate throughout the journey of chess.

I have played chess for over 10 years now, and I have been playing competitively since freshman year of high school. I have been programming in Java for nearly two years, and throughout that time, I have been working on this game.
